Plan Your Visit

What will my group do at Conner Prairie?
Be ready for hands-on fun and excitement as you visit four unique historic areas. Everywhere you go, costumed residents will guide your way so you'll feel right at home. Staff wearing blue Conner Prairie shirts will help you make connections between past and present, and answer your questions.

Will I need a tour guide?
Your visit is self-guided. Upon your arrival, we will supply you with maps to help you select which areas to visit and how long to spend in each area. Conner Prairie staff, located throughout the museum and historic areas, are available if you have questions or need assistance.

How long should I allow for my group visit?
Allow at least three hours for your visit, although there is plenty to do if you stay longer. If you are having lunch, add 30 minutes extra. Groups with very young children may want to spend less time.

How many adults should I bring with my youth group?
For ages 6-12, we recommend at least one adult for every ten children; for ages 2-6, at least one adult for every five children.

What are our options for lunch?
  • Pre-order a meal served in a souvenir haversack for $5 per person.
Choose from a ham or turkey sandwich with cheese and mayo or PBJ. All sandwiches are served on white bread with chips, cookie and fruit-flavored drink. Orders must be placed and guaranteed at least five business days prior to your visit. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due five business days prior to your visit.
  • Enjoy lunch on your own at The Eatery or grab a snack at The Creamery.
  • Bring a sack lunch and picnic under the big shade trees adjacent to the parking area or at the Picnic Area near the Museum Center entrance. You can easily re-enter the museum from these areas.

Should my group bring extra money for purchases?
Conner Prairie's Museum Shop has many kid-friendly items, including candy, toys and small souvenirs. The Creamery, located outdoors, offers ice cream treats, beverages and snacks.

Are there any special events my group can attend?
Along with the everyday experience at Conner Prairie, there are also festivals and special events year-round:

Civil War Days—17 & 18
Indiana Festival—June 7 & 8
Glorious Fourth—July 4–6
Country Fair—September 20 & 21
Gingerbread Village—December 1-30

Where is Conner Prairie and how do I get there?
