The investment return from Conner Prairie's endowment covers only about 55% of expenses. The remainder of Conner Prairie’s operating funds must be raised each year from admissions, food service and retail, memberships and donated gifts.
An article in the October 2005 Museum News included Conner Prairie as one of 100 museums around the world which “change lives”.
Every day that we open our doors to the public, it costs $39,762—this is far beyond the revenue from admission tickets or memberships alone.
Frommer's included Conner Prairie as one of only three Indiana sites in their new guide, 500 Places to Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up. The Taj Mahal, the Great Sphinx, and the Acropolis also made the list.
In 2006, Conner Prairie was awarded the Sycamore Foundation's statewide Indiana Achievement Award for Innovation for our nationally recognized new approach to hands-on and minds-on engagement with history called the Opening Doors initiative. This project is now being marketed to other museum professionals around the country via an interactive DVD, allowing us to share with them our methods of teaching in a museum setting.

Conner Prairie 2008 Annual Fund

Make an immediate impact
Your gift to the 2008 Annual Fund makes an immediate impact. You are helping provide powerful experiences to people of all ages and preserve our American cultural heritage.

A $200 donation will feed our livestock—horses, cows, chickens, turkeys, pigs, oxen, sheep and goats—for a week. Only $125 keeps the blacksmith at his forge each day. Even a $50 gift helps underwrite schoolchildren's visits as they discover the wonders of Conner Prairie.

Conner Prairie's mission is to provide engaging, individualized and unique experiences. These are targeted to the interests of children and adults to inspire curiosity and foster learning about Indiana's past.

It's your gift that helps make this possible. Your donation defrays the day-to-day expenses of making Conner Prairie the perfect place to build memories with your children, learn new skills, or find out how your ancestors created a life together in a new country.
